United Nigeria Acquires Two Additional Boeing Aircraft
United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has increased its fleet of aircraft with the acquisition of two Boeing 737-800NG aircraft.
The airline, in a statement yesterday, said that the aircraft’s delivery was part of its continuous strategic expansion.
The aircraft with the registration numbers: 5N-CFC and 5N-CFB, touched down at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Two (MMA2), Lagos on Sunday, the statement said.
Speaking on the acquisition, the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) UNA, Adedayo Olawuyi, said that the aircraft are named after His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe (Obi of Onitsha) and the late Prof. Chinua Achebe, Africa’s literary giant.
Olawuyi reiterated that the acquisitions strengthened UNA’s growing fleet and reinforced its position within Nigeria and Africa’s evolving aviation market.
He added that the aircraft also brings capacity, enhanced comfort and improved reliability, meeting rising demand for a more seamless and premium travel experience.
Olawuyi explained that the aircraft would formally be unveiled on Thursday in Lagos at a ceremony that would be attended by the Obi of Onitsha, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo and other key stakeholders.
“This aircraft is not just about expanding capacity; it is about telling our story, celebrating our icons, and uniting our people with a renewed sense of pride,” he added.
