Veteran Actor Yinka Quadri Inducted As LASTMA Special Marshal

Veteran Nollywood actor Olayinka Quadri has been inducted as a Special Marshal of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) as part of efforts to strengthen traffic law compliance and promote road safety awareness across Lagos State.

The induction ceremony took place at the agency’s headquarters in Oshodi, where the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, formally decorated the actor and presented him with the official Special Marshal kit.

According to the agency, the Special Marshal initiative is designed to engage influential members of society, including public figures and community leaders, in supporting its campaign for safer roads and improved traffic discipline.

As a Special Marshal, Quadri is expected to leverage his public profile and decades-long career in the Nigerian film industry to encourage motorists and residents to obey traffic regulations and embrace responsible road use.

LASTMA said the initiative forms part of its broader strategy to deepen public participation in traffic management through partnerships with respected individuals who can serve as ambassadors for civic responsibility.

The agency noted that programmes such as the Special Marshal and Special Traffic Mayor schemes are aimed at complementing enforcement efforts by promoting voluntary compliance with traffic laws.

LASTMA maintained that effective traffic management in Lagos requires collaboration between enforcement agencies and the public, especially in view of the state’s growing population and increasing transportation demands.
