Yuletide: TRACE Rolls Out Special Traffic Operation Across Ogun’s 18 Major Corridors
OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has announced a special traffic management operation aimed at ensuring effective traffic control and free flow of vehicles across 18 major traffic corridors in the state during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The Yuletide Special Operation Schedule, according to a statement issued by the agency, will run from Monday, December 22, 2025, to Monday, January 5, 2026. The operation is designed to guarantee the safety of lives and property amid the anticipated increase in human and vehicular movement during the festive period.
The statement, signed by the most senior TRACE officer and Head of the agency’s day-to-day administration, Commander Elias Omonayajo Adedayo, explained that the special patrol order will involve round-the-clock monitoring of motorists and other road users, including operators of both high- and low-capacity vehicles.
Major corridors to be covered include the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway; Interchange–Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode–Benin/Ore Expressway; Sango/Ota–Atan–Owode–Idiroko Highway; Atan–Lusada–Agbara–Badagry Highway; Abeokuta–Kobape–Siun–Interchange Expressway; Abeokuta–Ewekoro–Ifo–Sango/Ota Expressway; and Rounder–Abeokuta–Olorunda–Ayetoro–Imeko–Ilara Border, among others.
The operation will also feature collaboration with other safety and security agencies, as well as engagement with road users through initiatives such as the TRACE Traffic Whistle Blower Initiative, TRACE Emergency Traffic Service, and the Community-Based Traffic Management Scheme (TRACE Mayors). The agency noted that road safety remains a collective responsibility.
Field Commanders have been directed to ensure that TRACE operatives conduct themselves in a presentable, civil, professional, fair, and firm manner while discharging their duties.
While felicitating with Christians and all road users during the festive season, Commander Omonayajo cautioned motorists against drinking and driving, excessive speeding, and unnecessary night travel. He also urged road users to plan their journeys properly and strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
The agency warned that any vehicle impounded for traffic infractions during the period will not be released until the end of the special operation on Monday, January 5, 2026.
For emergency assistance or rescue operations, TRACE advised the public to contact its hotlines on 0806 270 3568 or 0803 491 9165.
