Zamfara Approves ₦70.9bn Contract For 53km Gusau–Nasarawa Godel Road

The Zamfara State Government has approved the award of a ₦70.9 billion contract for the construction of the 53-kilometre Gusau–Jauri–Dogon Kade–Nasarawa Mailayi–Nasarawa Godel Road.

The approval was given during the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Dauda Lawal on Monday, October 5, 2026, following consideration of a memorandum presented by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure.

According to the state government, CCECC Nigeria Limited emerged as the Lowest Evaluated Responsive Bidder following a technical and financial evaluation conducted by the relevant committee.

The contractor’s evaluated bid stands at ₦70,896,387,618.50, with the recommendation subsequently approved by the Ministry’s Tenders Board.

The project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will feature a 7.3-metre-wide carriageway with 1.5-metre shoulders on both sides.

It will also include a 40mm wearing course, three major bridges, box, pipe and triple-cell culverts, road furniture, traffic signs, road markings and other ancillary works required for its completion and commissioning.

The government said the project is expected to improve connectivity between Gusau and communities along the corridor, while facilitating the movement of agricultural produce and other goods to markets.

It is also expected to improve access to healthcare, education and other essential services, strengthen security operations and enhance the movement and response capabilities of security agencies in the area.

The state government further said the road would stimulate commercial activities in benefiting communities, reduce travel time and lower vehicle operating costs.

The approval is part of Governor Lawal’s infrastructure development agenda under his administration’s “Rescue Mission” programme, with emphasis on improving road infrastructure, strengthening connectivity and opening up economic opportunities across the state.

The government urged CCECC Nigeria Limited to execute the project according to the required quality standards and within the stipulated 18-month completion period.

It also assured residents that the project would be closely supervised to ensure compliance with specifications and value for money.
