FRSC, MEMAN Collaborate To Train Officers On Truck Safe-To-Load Standards

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) have collaboratively commenced the training of officers on Truck Safe-to-Load (S-T-L) standards to strengthen enforcement and curb petroleum tanker-related road crashes.

The programme is part of sustained partnership between both organisations since 2019, aimed at equipping FRSC personnel with the technical knowledge required to ensure compliance with safety protocols in the transportation of petroleum products.

Speaking at the training session in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, MEMAN’s Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Clement Isong, said the initiative aligns with the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety, which targets a reduction in road traffic deaths and injuries.

Isong, who was represented by Operations Manager Moses Okoh, stressed that tackling petroleum truck accidents requires focused implementation of the five pillars of the global road safety framework, noting that collaboration among stakeholders remains essential to achieving lasting impact.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the South/South Regional Coordinator of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Ibrahim Dimowo; Assistant Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Henry Banemesia; and the Rivers State Sector Commander, F. A. Ajatta, who jointly declared the South-South session open.

The 2026 S-T-L training programme, which commenced in Lagos on April 9, is ongoing in Port Harcourt and will wrap up in the Federal Capital Territory on April 17.
