LASTMA Trains Senior Officers On Emotional Intelligence, Professional Conduct

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched an in-house training programme for its senior officers, focusing on emotional management, professional etiquette and time management to enhance discipline and service delivery.

The training, which commenced on Monday, is part of the agency’s broader effort to build a more efficient and responsive workforce capable of handling the complexities of traffic control in Lagos.

According to the Authority, the programme is designed to equip senior personnel with skills to manage emotions effectively, maintain professionalism in public interactions and optimise time in the discharge of their duties.

Participants were also trained on maintaining composure under pressure, particularly in challenging situations that require patience, tact and sound judgment. The initiative is expected to foster courteous interpersonal relations, strict adherence to operational procedures and consistent professionalism in engagements with motorists and other road users.

Speaking on the development, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare Oki, said the success of the agency depends largely on the discipline, professionalism and emotional stability of its personnel.

He noted that the training would promote punctuality, accountability and an organised workflow among senior officers, who serve as leaders and role models within the organisation.

Bakare Oki added that beyond traffic control duties, officers must uphold high standards of public service to strengthen public trust and sustain the credibility of the agency.
