LSSTF Donates Bulletproof Vests, Helmets To Strengthen Lagos Security Operations

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets and other protective equipment to the Lagos State Taskforce and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and public safety across the state.
The donations were presented during separate visits by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the LSSTF, Ayodele Ogunsan, alongside the Director of Administration, Adegbola Lewis, to the headquarters of the Lagos Taskforce and the LNSA facility in Oshodi.
At the Lagos Taskforce headquarters, the equipment was received by the Chairman of the agency, Adetayo Akerele, while the General Manager of the LNSA, Ifalade Oyekan, received the items on behalf of his agency.
The donated items included multiple units of bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets aimed at improving personnel protection, operational efficiency and emergency response capabilities.
Speaking during the presentation, Ogunsan described the intervention as part of the LSSTF’s mandate to provide equipment, logistics and training support for security agencies operating in Lagos State.
According to him, the LNSA remains a critical component of the state’s security architecture and must be adequately equipped to operate effectively.
“They are our own pride. Whatever we need to nurture them, equip them and ensure that they operate to global standards in keeping Lagos safe, we are ready to do it,” he said.
Ogunsan clarified that the anti-riot gear was not intended for aggression but to help security personnel maintain public order during protests, civil disturbances and emergency situations.
“We are not preparing men for war; we are preparing personnel capable of containing the excesses of miscreants and unruly elements so Lagosians can sleep with their two eyes closed,” he added.
He also stressed the importance of prioritising the welfare and safety of security personnel, noting that officers responsible for protecting lives and property must themselves be properly protected and supported.
Responding, Akerele expressed appreciation to the LSSTF for what he described as sustained support for security operations in the state, noting that the equipment would improve the morale, safety and operational effectiveness of Taskforce personnel.
Similarly, Oyekan commended the LSSTF for consistently supporting the LNSA, describing the intervention as timely and crucial to strengthening community-based security operations and rapid response efforts across Lagos communities.
The visits also featured operational displays by LNSA personnel who appeared fully kitted in the newly donated anti-riot gear, highlighting the growing collaboration between the LSSTF and security agencies in the state.
