Edo Govt Promises Investor-Friendly Environment As FG Unveils CNG Centre

The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses and investors to thrive, as the Federal Government inaugurated the Diverse Autocare Centre Hub and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility in Benin City.

Governor Monday Okpebholo, represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, gave the assurance during the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday in the Edo State capital.

He described the facility as more than just a building, noting that it would serve as a one-stop hub for vehicle sales, servicing, diagnostics, spare parts fabrication, as well as training and skills development for youths.

According to him, the project reflects the vision of the state government to encourage innovation, job creation, and private sector investment.

“This hub speaks to the future we are building for Edo. It is bold, modern, and proof that our sons and daughters can return home to build businesses, create jobs, and inspire the next generation,” he said.

Okpebholo stressed that security remains a major priority of his administration, noting that no investor would commit resources to an unsafe environment.

He said the state government had strengthened community policing through the training and equipping of the Edo State Security Vigilante Network to work closely with federal security agencies.

The governor added that the government’s role is to create a conducive environment, while the private sector drives employment and economic growth.

“The era of depending solely on government jobs is over. The new Edo rewards skills, innovation, and hard work,” he stated.

In his remarks, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, commended the Chairman of Diverse Autocare Centre Limited, Greg Ogbeifun, for aligning with the Federal Government’s gas development agenda under President Bola Tinubu.

Ekpo said the facility represents a practical demonstration of growing private sector confidence in natural gas as a cleaner, cheaper, and more sustainable alternative for transportation.

“This facility is more than an automobile conversion centre. It supports the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas initiative aimed at transforming Nigeria into a gas-powered economy,” the minister said.

Earlier, Chairman of Diverse Autocare Centre Limited, Greg Ogbeifun, said the initiative was designed to create awareness about CNG adoption while also generating employment opportunities for young Nigerians.

He urged more investors to take advantage of the opportunities in Edo State, describing the state as safe and conducive for business activities.
