OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief (Mrs) Ladun Adekunle, has congratulated the newly elected National Chairman of the party, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), on their emergence at the party’s recently concluded National Convention.

In a statement issued by her Media Director, Adekunle described the outcome of the convention as a significant step toward strengthening the party’s internal democracy and positioning it for future electoral successes. She expressed confidence in the capacity of the new leadership to steer the affairs of the party effectively.

The APC stalwart also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what she termed his unwavering commitment to economic reforms, national development, and inclusive governance.

According to her, the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” is already laying the groundwork for sustainable growth and improved living standards across the country.

Adekunle used the opportunity to call on eligible Nigerians who are yet to register as members of the APC or obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

She emphasised that voter registration remains a fundamental civic responsibility and a crucial avenue through which citizens can influence governance and national development.

“Democracy thrives when citizens actively participate in the electoral process,” she stated. “The ongoing voter registration provides an opportunity for first-time voters, individuals who have relocated, and those seeking to update their records to ensure they are eligible to vote in forthcoming elections.”

She urged Nigerians across the 36 states to come out in large numbers to register, stressing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the only legally recognised instrument for voting in Nigeria.

Adekunle further appealed to community leaders, youth groups, religious organisations, and civil society bodies to mobilise their members to participate actively in the exercise, noting that broad-based participation is essential for a more inclusive and representative democracy.

Reaffirming her commitment to grassroots mobilisation, the APC chieftain pledged to collaborate with stakeholders nationwide to ensure widespread awareness and sensitisation on both APC membership registration and the CVR process.

She expressed optimism that with increased citizen participation and sustained policy implementation, the current administration’s programmes would deliver tangible economic benefits and improved welfare for Nigerians.
