Dangote Offers N500,000 Reward To Curb Illegal Truck Haulage

LAGOS — Dangote Industries Limited has launched a whistleblower initiative offering a ₦500,000 cash reward to individuals who provide credible information leading to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage operations using Dangote-branded trucks.

The company said the initiative is part of efforts to protect the integrity of its nationwide logistics network and eliminate the unauthorised use of its vehicles for commercial transportation of goods and passengers.

In a statement issued in Lagos, the company urged members of the public to report suspected cases of illegal haulage, stressing that its trucks are authorised to transport only products designated to each subsidiary.

According to the company, Dangote Cement trucks are permitted to carry only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are restricted to sugar products. Trucks belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are authorised to transport Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging vehicles are designated for bags and packaging materials.

It added that trucks operated by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are authorised to transport polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are meant exclusively for the haulage of urea fertiliser.

The company warned that any Dangote-branded truck found transporting unauthorised goods would be treated as engaging in illegal haulage, with both the driver and the owners of the goods liable to arrest, confiscation of the cargo and prosecution under applicable laws.

It explained that whistleblowers whose information leads to the arrest of offenders or the recovery of unauthorised goods would receive a ₦500,000 reward.

To facilitate investigations, the company advised informants to provide key details, including the truck type, registration number, cab number, location, description of the goods being transported, vehicle colour and, where possible, photographs of the truck and cargo.

Dangote Industries said dedicated hotlines have been established across its operations to receive reports of illegal haulage, particularly involving trucks operating from its Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants.

The company also disclosed that law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have been authorised to arrest drivers found using Dangote trucks for unauthorised commercial haulage.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance against logistics-related fraud, Dangote Industries called on members of the public to support the campaign by reporting illegal activities, noting that public cooperation is essential to protecting legitimate business operations and ensuring offenders are brought to justice.
