The Command’s spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, disclosed this in a statement, noting that 26 vehicles were impounded during the exercise for various traffic-related violations.
According to him, the arrested offenders were arraigned before the Mobile Court established by the Delta State Government to ensure swift adjudication of traffic offences.
Edafe said the enforcement was being conducted in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and the Command’s commitment to promoting road safety, public order and strict compliance with existing laws.
He explained that the exercise was designed to curb reckless driving and other traffic violations capable of endangering lives and disrupting the smooth flow of activities on the roads.
At the conclusion of the court proceedings, 23 offenders were convicted and fined according to the severity of their offences, while three others were discharged and acquitted.
The police spokesman said the outcome of the exercise reflected the Command’s determination to enforce traffic regulations through lawful and transparent measures.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the enforcement across the state, warning motorists against violating traffic laws.
He urged vehicle owners and road users to ensure their vehicles are properly registered, documented and operated in accordance with all relevant traffic regulations.
