Delta To Begin Reconstruction Of ECN/Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road
The Delta State Government has concluded arrangements to commence the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the ECN/Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activities in the state.
The decision followed a stakeholders’ meeting involving officials of Niger Cat Construction Limited, government representatives, and leaders of host communities.
Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, who presided over the meeting, said the project reflects Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to expanding critical infrastructure and improving the welfare of residents.
He directed the contractor to ensure timely delivery of the project, noting that the road will enhance the movement of people and goods while strengthening economic activities across Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas.
To facilitate smooth project execution, the state government has appointed a Special Project Coordinator and designated community liaison representatives to improve communication between the contractor, government, and host communities.
Izeze also disclosed that officials of the state government and Niger Cat Construction Limited would visit traditional rulers in the affected communities next week to seek their support before full-scale construction begins.
Project Manager of Niger Cat Construction Limited, Engineer George, described the stakeholders’ engagement as productive, saying key issues had been resolved ahead of mobilisation to site.
Speaking on behalf of the host communities, Olorogun Godwin Sito pledged the communities’ full cooperation to ensure the successful completion of the road project.
