FAAN Investigates Viral Passenger-Security Dispute At Osubi Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched an investigation into a viral video showing an altercation between an Aviation Security (AVSEC) officer and a passenger at Osubi Airport in Warri, Delta State.

The incident, which has attracted widespread attention on social media, reportedly involved an AVSEC officer who prevented a female passenger from boarding with tins of milk and other canned food items in her luggage.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, FAAN said it was treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves.

According to the Authority, the Managing Director and Chief Executive has directed an immediate investigation to determine the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN views the matter with utmost seriousness and has directed an immediate investigation to establish all the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement read.

FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, aviation safety, security, and customer service across all airports under its management.

The Authority stated that the outcome of the investigation would determine any further action, adding that appropriate administrative and disciplinary measures would be taken if any breach of operational procedures or professional standards is established.

FAAN also assured the travelling public of its commitment to ensuring airport operations comply with global best practices while protecting passengers’ rights and maintaining effective aviation security standards.
