Enugu Community Backs Mbah, Tinubu, Demands Road To Benue
ENUGU — Residents and stakeholders of Ikem community in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State have pledged their support for Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
The community made the declaration during an APC campaign visit to Ward 1, Ikem Uno, as part of the party’s mobilisation activities for the forthcoming local government elections.
The stakeholders commended Governor Mbah for his administration’s infrastructure projects across the state, particularly the ongoing construction of the Owo-Neke-Ikem road.
They, however, appealed to the governor to initiate the construction of another major road linking several communities in Ikem with the boundary between Enugu and Benue states.
An APC stakeholder and supporter of the party’s chairmanship candidate, Dr Dave Nnamani, urged Governor Mbah to collaborate with the incoming Isi-Uzo Local Government Council administration to execute the proposed project.
According to Nnamani, the road would begin from Ukwumango and pass through Ikem Ogor, Ikem Nkwo, Ashiebo, Odobido Ikem, Odenigbo and Eha-Amufu before terminating at Ahube Water, which he described as the Enugu-Benue boundary under Legal Notice 126 of 1954.
He said the project would open up rural communities, boost economic activities and create better access for residents who had been unable to return to their ancestral settlements since 1970 because of hostilities.
Nnamani also said the road would establish a stronger transport link between Enugu, Ebonyi and Benue states and improve connectivity to other parts of northern Nigeria.
“We appreciate other developmental projects embarked upon by Governor Mbah which have affected many lives in the state. We are going to reciprocate the gesture through our mobilisation to re-elect the governor and other APC candidates in Isi-Uzo LGA,” he said.
He further appealed to Mbah to work with the incoming chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Council to consider the road project as part of measures to strengthen the governor’s agrarian development policy.
The APC chairmanship candidate, Chief Brendan Ani, was accompanied by the party’s candidate for Isi-Uzo State Constituency, Hon. Augustine Nnamani, and its candidate for Isi-Uzo/Enugu East Federal Constituency, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga.
The Ikem community also declared its support for the three candidates, reaffirming its confidence in the APC and its candidates at the local and state levels.
