Ethiopian Airlines Launches Three Weekly Flights To Mauritius

Ethiopian Airlines has commenced a new passenger service to Mauritius, expanding its African route network and strengthening air connectivity across the continent.

The new route, which began operations on July 12, 2026, will operate three times a week between Addis Ababa and Mauritius, offering passengers seamless connections to the airline’s extensive global network.

In a statement, the airline said the service forms part of its continued expansion strategy aimed at improving connectivity within Africa while linking the continent to key destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas through its Addis Ababa hub.

The airline noted that Mauritius, known for its thriving tourism industry and growing economic importance, represents a strategic addition to its expanding African network.

It said the direct service is expected to enhance travel convenience, promote tourism, facilitate trade and strengthen people-to-people ties between Ethiopia and Mauritius.

Speaking on the launch, Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer, Mesfin Tasew, described Mauritius as a destination of remarkable beauty, rich culture and increasing economic significance.

He said the new route would provide travellers with easier access to the airline’s global network while bringing international visitors closer to Mauritius.

“As a Pan-African airline, Ethiopian will continue to serve as a catalyst for enhanced air connectivity between Africa and the rest of the world,” Tasew said.

The airline added that passengers on the route will benefit from its modern fleet, onboard services and convenient onward connections through Addis Ababa to destinations across Africa and other regions.

According to the carrier, the launch of the Mauritius service aligns with its broader objective of supporting tourism growth, expanding air transport services and promoting greater economic integration across Africa.
