Ex-Ayade Aide Donates Facility To Support Cross River Road Rehabilitation Project

A former Special Adviser on Cocoa Development and Control to former Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, Dr. Oscar Ofuka, has donated a facility to support the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ikom–Obudu road being undertaken by the Cross River State Government.

The facility, located in Bendeghe Ekiem community in Etung Local Government Area, was handed over at the weekend for temporary use by Faith Plants Global, the construction firm handling the 10-kilometre road rehabilitation project.

Speaking during the handover, Ofuka said the gesture was aimed at complementing Governor Bassey Otu’s infrastructure development efforts and accelerating the successful execution of the project.

According to him, providing accommodation for the construction company will not only facilitate smooth operations but also strengthen security within the host community.

“This is my little way of supporting government efforts and contributing to the development of our communities,” he said.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the construction firm, the Clan Head of Okosoro Clan, His Royal Highness Ntufam Abraham Asu, commended Ofuka for the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of commitment to community development.

Asu noted that the facility would provide a conducive environment for personnel working on the road project and contribute to its timely completion.

The traditional ruler also addressed the lingering disputes over cocoa farm allocations in the area, describing the issue as a recurring source of tension among stakeholders.

He said disagreements over cocoa allocations and compliance with court judgments had fueled conflicts in the past, adding that traditional institutions were committed to promoting dialogue and ensuring a lasting resolution.

Asu assured residents that community leaders would continue to engage relevant stakeholders to sustain peace and protect investments in the area.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Crisis Management Committee of Mbube Blocks of Clans, Chief Moses Ndep, urged youths in Bendeghe Ekiem to avoid encroaching on cocoa farms currently under litigation.

He maintained that the disputed farms were allocated to farmers by the previous administration and advised all parties to respect ongoing legal processes.

Ndep stressed that maintaining peace and stability remained essential for development and the successful implementation of ongoing government projects in the area.
