FG To Dualise Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road

The Federal Government is set to commence the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, a major highway connecting Oyo and Ogun states.

The flag-off ceremony for the project is scheduled to hold on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the open field of Legacy Estate, along the Idi Ayunre axis of the road in Ibadan.

Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, disclosed this in an invitation dated August 20, 2026, to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

Umahi said the Federal Executive Council had recently approved the contract for the dualisation of the road, with JRB Construction Limited named as the contractor.

According to the minister, the project is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at upgrading road infrastructure, improving the experience of motorists and supporting economic growth.

The Ibadan-Ijebu Ode corridor serves as an important transport link between Oyo and Ogun states and connects Ibadan with the Lagos-Ogun axis.

The minister also emphasised the importance of collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments, traditional institutions and other stakeholders in delivering critical infrastructure.

Upon completion, the dualisation is expected to increase the road’s capacity, improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of people, agricultural produce, goods and services between Oyo and Ogun states.
