Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Two Policemen In Osun

The Osun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the lives of two police operatives along the Osogbo-Gbongan Road in Oogi community, Osun State.

The command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident on Thursday, stating that the deceased officers, identified simply as Kehinde and Tobi, were travelling on a motorcycle when a Lexus vehicle rammed into them on Wednesday.

According to Ojelabi, the driver fled the scene immediately after the crash, abandoning the vehicle.

“The two police operatives were travelling on a motorcycle when they got hit by a Lexus car. Kehinde and Tobi are the two operatives involved,” he said.

He added that the police had recovered both the Lexus car and the motorcycle involved in the accident, and the vehicles had been taken into custody as investigations continue.

“We have launched a probe into the accident and are tracking the driver of the car. The vehicle and motorcycle involved have been recovered and taken to the station,” Ojelabi stated.

The police spokesperson further disclosed that one of the deceased officers had already been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

He assured that the command had commenced a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
