Kogi Commissioner Urges Contractor To Accelerate Work On 16.4km Otokiti–Ganaja Road

The Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Salami Ozigi Deedat, has urged Still Earth Construction Company to accelerate work on the 16.4-kilometre Otokiti–Ganaja Dual Carriageway, also known as the Zone 8 Bypass Road, to ensure its completion within the approved timeframe.

Deedat gave the directive on Tuesday, November 4, 2026, during an inspection of the ongoing project, where he commended the contractor for the progress recorded so far.

The commissioner, however, called on the construction firm to intensify its efforts and maintain strict compliance with approved project specifications and regulations to ensure quality delivery.

He described the road as a strategic infrastructure project that would improve connectivity, ease transportation and stimulate economic activities in Lokoja and other parts of the state upon completion.

Deedat reaffirmed the Ministry of Works’ commitment to effective project supervision and the delivery of durable infrastructure that would enhance the living standards of residents.

He also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritising infrastructure development and pursuing a vision of positioning Kogi as a major centre of economic growth.

The commissioner further acknowledged President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government for their support towards providing resources for critical infrastructure projects.

He noted that Kogi’s strategic location at the centre of Nigeria makes sustained investment in road infrastructure essential to unlocking the state’s economic potential and strengthening its role as a gateway connecting different parts of the country.
