Lagos Announces Traffic Diversion For Anthony Village Bus Stop Reconstruction

OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion plan to facilitate ongoing reconstruction works at the Anthony Village Bus Stop, urging motorists to use alternative routes to minimise delays.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Ministry of Transportation, the government said excavation had commenced at the bus stop as part of efforts to provide a permanent solution to a section of the road that has suffered repeated damage from heavy rainfall.

The ministry explained that the affected section would be reconstructed with interlocking paving stones to improve its durability and resilience against adverse weather conditions.

As part of the traffic management arrangements, motorists travelling from Fadeyi and intending to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village will not be able to use the route during the construction period.

Similarly, motorists intending to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect Oshodi have been advised to avoid the corridor. Instead, they should remain on the expressway and use the available connecting road further ahead.

The ministry also noted that motorists travelling from Oshodi and intending to access the Anthony-Ikorodu Road through Anthony Village should be aware that there is no through road at the project location while construction is in progress.

The government appealed to motorists to plan their journeys in advance, avoid the Anthony Village Bus Stop and the affected service lane where possible, and make use of alternative routes to reduce traffic congestion.

The Lagos State Government expressed appreciation to road users for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the duration of the project.
