Lagos Begins Construction Of 1.08km Road In Igando-Ikotun

The Lagos State Government has commenced the construction of a 1,086-metre road linking Alhaji Ashafa, Alhaji Ogundimu and Tunde Olufoye Streets in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alimosho.

The project, which was flagged off on Sunday, is part of the state government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity across communities in Lagos.

Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the ceremony, the Special Adviser on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, said the project demonstrated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that communities across the state benefit from its development programmes.

Agbaje disclosed that the Office of Rural Development had flagged off about eight road projects in different communities in September, describing the initiative as a step towards creating a more connected and inclusive Lagos.

The lawmaker representing Alimosho Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kehinde Joseph, who was represented by Comrade Raheem Akeem, said the project would address some of the transportation and accessibility challenges affecting residents and businesses in the area.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa, said the completed road would facilitate economic activities, reduce travel time and create employment opportunities for residents.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Lasisi Akinsanya, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs Mojisola Badmus, said the council had benefited from several government interventions since the commencement of the Sanwo-Olu administration.

Akinsanya urged residents to cooperate with the contractor to ensure the project was delivered on schedule.

In his remarks on behalf of the Motorola and Ogo Oluwa Community Development Associations, Alhaji Muniru Ogundimu appreciated the state government for the intervention and assured officials and contractors of the residents’ support throughout the construction period.
