Lagos Taskforce Arrests 26 In Clean-Up Raid, Recovers Suspected Hard Drugs

The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested 26 suspects during a clean-up enforcement operation aimed at removing street urchins, miscreants, drug addicts, illegal commercial motorcycle riders, street traders, illegal ticket operators and other suspected criminal elements from parts of the state.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the operation commenced at about 8:00 a.m. and covered Muri-Okunola Park in Victoria Island and the Obalende Underbridge.

The agency said substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Colorado and other hard drugs were recovered from the suspects during the exercise.

It added that normalcy has since been restored in the affected areas following the operation.

The Taskforce said all 26 suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017, and the Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining enforcement operations across the state to maintain public order and ensure a safer environment for residents.
