Motorists To Expect Delays As Expansion Joint Repairs Resume On Kara-Berger Bridge – TRACE

OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

Motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have been advised to prepare for traffic delays following the commencement of another phase of expansion joint replacement works on the Kara-Berger Bridge.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) announced the traffic advisory in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works and CBC Global Civil & Construction Company, notifying road users that the repair works will begin on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

According to TRACE, the project follows the directive of the Minister of Works and will involve the replacement of the expansion joint on the outbound Lagos carriageway of the Kara Bridge. The construction will be executed by CBC Global Civil & Construction Company under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Works.

The agency said temporary traffic management measures, including lane restrictions and controlled diversions where necessary, would be implemented throughout the construction period to safeguard motorists and construction workers.

TRACE warned that the repair works are likely to cause traffic congestion, especially during peak travel hours, and urged commuters to plan their journeys accordingly.

It also advised motorists to obey all traffic signs, comply with directives from traffic management and law enforcement officers, maintain safe following distances, and refrain from driving against traffic.

To minimise disruption, TRACE said it would work closely with the Federal Ministry of Works, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police Force, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and other relevant stakeholders to deploy adequate personnel for effective traffic control during the project.

The agency appealed to road users for patience, cooperation, and understanding, noting that the rehabilitation work is essential to enhance the structural integrity, safety, and long-term durability of the Kara-Berger Bridge.
