Mutfwang Flags Off Reconstruction Of 41km Bisichi-Fan-Mangu Halle Road

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has inaugurated the reconstruction of the 41-kilometre Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road, with the project expected to improve connectivity, enhance road safety and stimulate economic activities across communities along the corridor.

Mutfwang, who performed the flag-off ceremony, said the project was part of his administration’s commitment to expanding infrastructure and improving the quality of life of residents across the state.

According to the governor, the road serves as an important link between several communities and its completion would reduce travel time while providing residents with easier access to markets, healthcare facilities, schools and other essential services.

He explained that the road was initially awarded in December 2012 to Eighteen Engineering International Construction Company as a surface-dressed road constructed on a laterite base.

Although substantial work had been carried out on the project, Mutfwang said rising traffic volumes and the deteriorating condition of the road had made a comprehensive reconstruction necessary to ensure durability and bring the road up to modern standards.

“Today we are not merely flagging off a road project; we are laying another foundation for progress, prosperity, and sustainable development in Plateau State,” the governor said.

Mutfwang noted that the reconstruction would also complement other strategic road projects being undertaken by his administration, including the Foron–Bakin Kogi–Kadunu–Gindiri Road, thereby strengthening inter-community connectivity across Plateau State.

He said improved road access would particularly benefit farmers by making it easier to transport agricultural produce to markets, while businesses would benefit from lower transportation costs and residents would enjoy safer and more efficient movement.

The governor appealed to host communities to protect the project throughout the construction period and after its completion.

He also directed the contractors, consultants and relevant supervising ministry to comply strictly with approved specifications and quality standards, assuring that the state government would maintain close supervision of the project to ensure its successful delivery.

Mutfwang commended the host communities for their patience and support, describing the reconstruction as another significant step towards strengthening the social and economic integration of communities across the state.
