NRC Schedules Extra Lagos-Ibadan Trips, Free Osun Train For Easter Travel Surge

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced special train service arrangements to accommodate increased passenger traffic during the Easter holiday period, including additional trips on the Lagos-Ibadan corridor and a free train service to Osun State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos, the corporation said the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS) will operate three trips to meet anticipated demand.
From the Mobolaji Johnson Station in Ebute Metta, departures are scheduled for 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., while trains from the Obafemi Awolowo Station in Moniya, Ibadan, will depart at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
The NRC also disclosed plans to run a special Easter train on the narrow gauge corridor in partnership with the Osun State Government. The service, which will be free for passengers, will depart Iddo Station in Lagos for Osogbo at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3, and return on Monday, April 6, at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) will maintain its regular schedule, with two trips on Thursdays and three daily trips from Friday through Monday, covering morning, mid-day, and afternoon services between Idu and Rigasa.
On the Warri-Itakpe corridor, services will continue to run daily except Thursdays, which are reserved for maintenance.
Trains from Warri to Itakpe will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 8:00 a.m., while return services from Itakpe to Warri will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 12:00 noon.
Similarly, operations on the Port Harcourt-Aba narrow gauge line will continue on their regular schedule, with departures at 8:00 a.m. from Port Harcourt to Aba and 3:00 p.m. for return journeys.
The corporation assured passengers of its commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient rail services across all routes. It advised travelers to plan ahead, arrive early at stations, and comply with ticketing and security procedures.
The NRC also extended Easter greetings to passengers, encouraging continued patronage of rail transport as a dependable means of travel.
