Olajide, OYSTROMA Begin Rehabilitation Of Adeoyo–Orita Challenge Road

Residents and motorists along the Adeoyo State Hospital axis in Ibadan, Oyo State, are set to benefit from the planned comprehensive rehabilitation of the road linking the Ring Road/Adeoyo Roundabout to Olororo Junction, Orita Challenge.

The intervention followed an on-the-spot assessment of the deteriorated road by the member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, and the Chairman of the Oyo State Road Management Agency (OYSTROMA), Mr Busoye Ogunlade.

The inspection was carried out to assess the extent of the road’s deterioration and determine the technical requirements for its rehabilitation.

According to a statement by Olajide’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, measurements were taken along the entire stretch, with particular attention to the drainage system, culverts and other sections requiring structural intervention.

Mustapha said the project would go beyond routine repairs, describing it as a total overhaul of the road corridor.

He disclosed that drainage and culvert works would commence in the coming days, stressing that the work on the drainage infrastructure would precede the major road rehabilitation.

According to him, the approach was necessary to address underlying water-flow challenges and prevent damage to the rehabilitated road.

“Following the completion of the necessary drainage works, tarring of the road would commence immediately,” the statement said.

The road serves as an important link between Ring Road, Adeoyo, the Adeoyo State Hospital axis and Orita Challenge, providing access to several commercial, residential, healthcare and public service facilities.

The rehabilitation is expected to improve vehicular movement, enhance accessibility and reduce the difficulties faced by motorists and residents along the corridor.

Mustapha added that the intervention reflected Olajide’s commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges affecting constituents through collaboration with relevant authorities and technical agencies.

He said the commencement of drainage and culvert works would mark the first phase of the project, while the subsequent tarring would complete the major surface rehabilitation of the road.
