Olubaka Commends Aiyedatiwa For Swift Intervention On Iwaro-Oka Road
The Olubaka of Oka Kingdom, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, has commended Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his prompt intervention on the deteriorating Iwaro-Oka Road in Oka-Akoko.
The monarch expressed his appreciation following the commencement of remedial works on the damaged section of the road.
The intervention came after residents, the Oka Youth Forum and other stakeholders raised concerns over the worsening condition of the important route.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Oba Adeleye described the governor’s response as timely and reassuring, particularly given the road’s importance to residents and other road users.
He praised Aiyedatiwa for directing the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Abiola Olawoye, to inspect the affected portion and commence immediate remedial work.
The monarch said the governor’s action demonstrated concern for the safety and wellbeing of residents who depend on the road daily.
He also commended the Oka Youth Forum and other stakeholders for drawing attention to the deteriorating road through peaceful and constructive engagement with the authorities.
According to him, the development highlights the importance of effective communication between communities and government in addressing challenges affecting residents.
Oba Adeleye, however, urged the state government to sustain the intervention until the affected portion is fully secured and made safe for motorists and other road users.
He further appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa to extend the same prompt approach to other pressing challenges confronting communities across Ondo State.
The monarch noted that the Oke-Oka–Iwaro Road serves as an important link between communities, facilitating the movement of people, vehicles, agricultural produce and other goods.
He added that the road provides access to schools and healthcare facilities while supporting commercial activities, security operations and emergency response.
Oba Adeleye expressed optimism that the remedial works would halt further deterioration and restore safe movement along the affected axis.
He urged residents to support the ongoing intervention and continue to engage relevant government authorities constructively on issues affecting the community.
The monarch also called for the timely completion of the remedial works, stressing that sustained cooperation among traditional institutions, community groups and government was essential to achieving lasting development in Oka Kingdom and Ondo State.
The Oka Youth Forum had earlier raised the alarm over the worsening condition of the road and called for urgent intervention to prevent its complete collapse.
