Senator Adeola Yayi Mourns Passing of Chief Musbau Ayinde “Baba Obanla”

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), representing Ogun West Senatorial District, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Musbau Ayinde Olayiwola Obanla, popularly known as Baba Obanla, describing the loss as both personal and irreplaceable.
Chief Obanla, a revered community figure and influential political leader from Ipokia in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, passed away in the early hours of Friday, November 21, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 80.
In a condolence message to the Obanla family, Senator Adeola lamented the passing of the elder statesman, noting that his death “is a personal loss, not only to me as the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, but indeed a great loss to the people of Ipokia, Ogun West, and the entire Ogun State.” He highlighted Baba Obanla’s active role in the Ogun State Elders Council and his dedication to community development.
The Senator also recalled the deceased’s unwavering support for his political journey, describing him as a steadfast ally whose loyalty and counsel were invaluable.
Chief Musbau Ayinde Obanla’s lifetime of service spanned several key roles, including Officer-in-Charge of Education, Ipokia District Council; Purchasing Manager at West Africa Portland Cement Company Ltd; pioneer Administrative Manager, Portland Transport, Sagamu; Vice Chairman of Ipokia Local Government (2004); and Chairman, Ipokia Council Transition Committee.
Until his passing, he served as a member of the Governing Council of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, and was an esteemed member of the Ogun State Elders Advisory Council, appointed by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Senator Adeola prayed for the peaceful repose of the late elder statesman and asked God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the profound loss of their patriarch.
