Zagah–Suntai Road Collapse Cuts Off Taraba Communities

Several communities in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State have been cut off following the collapse of a section of the Zagah–Suntai road.

The road, which links rural communities with other parts of the state, became impassable after a portion that had shown signs of deterioration finally gave way.

The collapse has disrupted the movement of residents and goods, with locals reporting difficulties accessing essential services such as healthcare, education and markets.

Community leaders had reportedly appealed to the Taraba State Government about three weeks ago to intervene after the road began showing signs of failure.

However, with the affected section now completely impassable, residents have renewed their calls for urgent government intervention to restore access and ease the hardship caused by the collapse.

The development has also highlighted the challenges posed by deteriorating road infrastructure in rural parts of Taraba State, where communities rely heavily on limited road networks for transportation, trade and access to public services.
