Zulum, Yahaya Commission 86km Roads, Bridge Projects In Gombe

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, and his Gombe State counterpart, Muhammadu Yahaya, have commissioned more than 86 kilometres of road projects and a three-span bridge in Gombe State.

The projects, commissioned on Sunday, October 4, 2026, are part of the Gombe State Government’s ongoing investment in road infrastructure and rural connectivity across the state.

Among the commissioned projects is the 41-kilometre Shango-Sarkin Yaki-Abuja/Bula-Bomala-Dinawa-Alagarno-Kalajanga-Tappi road in Kwami Local Government Area.

The road, delivered under the state’s “Network 1,100” programme, serves communities along the Gombe-Tappi corridor and terminates at Tappi on the Gombe-Kano highway.

Speaking during the commissioning, Zulum said the improved road network would enhance agricultural and livestock production while strengthening economic activities and livelihoods in communities along the corridor.

“Construction of roads connecting cities to rural communities will no doubt expand farming opportunities,” the Borno governor said.

Zulum also commissioned the 30-kilometre Kwanan Gerkwami-Tsangayari-Gerkwami-Daniya-Daban Fulani Road, as well as the 15-kilometre Kurba-Titi-Tsangayari Road, which includes a spur connecting Kundulum.

The projects also include the three-span Titi-Kurba Bridge, bringing the combined length of the newly commissioned roads to more than 86 kilometres.

Zulum said the projects would facilitate movement between rural communities, farms, markets and other economic centres, thereby improving access to opportunities and essential services.

He commended Governor Yahaya for the scale of infrastructure development undertaken through the state’s road network programme, saying he had personally witnessed the projects and was impressed by the level of development across Gombe.

Yahaya said the projects were designed to connect communities, improve mobility and unlock economic activities along the various corridors.

According to him, the projects form part of the administration’s sustained investment in critical infrastructure across Gombe’s 11 local government areas.

The governor said the Network 1,100 programme targets about 1,100 kilometres of roads across the state, adding that more than 1,000 kilometres had already been constructed as his administration entered the final phase of its tenure.

He said the expanded road network would improve the movement of people and agricultural produce while widening access to markets, services and other economic centres.

The Permanent Secretary in the Gombe State Ministry of Works, Danladi Adamu, provided technical details of the projects during the commissioning ceremony.

The road and bridge projects were completed by the Gombe State Government as part of its broader road infrastructure development programme.
