Kebbi Approves Construction Of Two Roads In Yauri
The Kebbi State Government has approved the construction of the Yauri-Zamare Road and Yabo Road in Yauri, Yauri Local Government Area, as part of efforts to improve road connectivity and stimulate socio-economic activities in the emirate.
Governor Nasir Idris disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking at the flag-off of an empowerment programme for 1,500 residents of Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski Federal Constituency, organised by a former Minister and All Progressives Congress candidate for the constituency, Dr Yusuf Sununu.
Idris said the two road projects had been approved and awarded, describing them as part of his administration’s commitment to providing infrastructure that would deliver lasting benefits to residents.
He said, “The construction of the Yauri-Zamare Road and Yabo Road in Yauri town has been approved and awarded.”
The governor assured residents of Yauri Emirate that his administration would continue to prioritise projects capable of improving living conditions, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, economic empowerment and social development.
He added that the state government would sustain efforts to expand road infrastructure and enhance connectivity across Kebbi State.
Idris also commended Sununu for organising the empowerment programme, describing the initiative as a demonstration of concern for the welfare of constituents, particularly youths, farmers, women and other vulnerable members of the community.
Sununu, in his remarks, thanked the governor for supporting development initiatives in Yauri Emirate and approving projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
He said the empowerment programme would provide beneficiaries with 80 water-pumping machines, goats for 120 people, fish-farming kits for 20 beneficiaries and fertiliser for 100 farmers.
According to him, 1,000 beneficiaries would also receive cash grants of N50,000 each.
Sununu said the intervention was designed to strengthen household incomes, support agricultural activities and promote economic self-reliance among beneficiaries across Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski.
The former minister urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the support provided to them and utilise the opportunities to establish sustainable sources of livelihood.
