Lagos Strengthens VIS Operations With Leadership, Conflict Management Training
OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos
The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building a more skilled and professional workforce with the commencement of a two-day leadership and conflict management training for 35 senior Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) at the VIS Headquarters in Ojodu-Berger.
The training programme, according to the government, aims to boost officers’ morale, enhance productivity and improve competencies in areas including emotional intelligence, personal effectiveness and professional conduct.
Speaking during the session, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, charged participants to embrace self-development, identify weaknesses and strive for personal improvement. He stressed the importance of emotional control when dealing with motorists, noting that the nature of their job requires patience, professionalism and restraint.
Giwa said the government remains committed to ensuring that officers are adequately equipped to manage emerging challenges in the line of duty while upholding high standards of service delivery. He also assured the officers of continuous support and improved welfare to enhance performance.
Also speaking, the Director of Vehicle Inspection Service, Engr. Akin-George Fashola, said the training would help officers communicate better with the public and improve their emotional intelligence and interpersonal relations.
He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to reshape public perception of the profession and deliver better service to Lagos residents. Fashola reiterated the State Government’s dedication to creating a supportive work environment that encourages innovation, growth and continuous improvement across the transportation sector.
