LASEMA Extinguishes Fire At Navy House In Ikoyi
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has contained and extinguished a fire outbreak at Navy House, located on Cameroon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The incident occurred on Saturday at about 5:12pm, prompting the immediate deployment of LASEMA’s Shark Team from its Lekki Base to the scene.
According to a statement by the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, responders arrived to find the top floor of the storey building fully engulfed in flames.
Preliminary findings indicated that the fire was caused by a power surge.
The agency said the blaze was quickly brought under control, preventing it from spreading to other floors of the building and nearby structures.
The emergency operation was carried out under a unified command involving LASEMA’s Shark Team, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Federal Fire Service, Navy Dockyards Limited, the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Police Force.
Oke-Osanyintolu said no life was lost and no injury was recorded during the incident.
Following the containment of the fire, emergency responders carried out a thorough risk assessment, identified potential hazards and conducted dampening-down operations to prevent possible re-ignition.
He said the safety of occupants and residents within the affected environment was fully secured.
“By 8:33pm, the fire had been completely extinguished, dampening-down operations concluded, and the Shark Team safely returned to base,” he said.
LASEMA reassured residents of its continued readiness to respond promptly to emergencies across Lagos State, urging members of the public to remain safety-conscious.
The agency also advised Lagosians to report emergencies promptly through its toll-free emergency numbers, 767 and 112.
