Anambra To Launch Digital Platform For Road Defect Reporting October 22

The Anambra State Government is set to launch a digital Road Tracker platform on October 22 to improve road infrastructure monitoring, maintenance and public accountability across the state.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Okey Ezeobi, disclosed this during a media briefing at his office, explaining that the platform would enable residents to report damaged roads, faulty drainage systems and other infrastructure defects directly to the relevant authorities.

According to him, the initiative is designed to encourage public participation, promote transparency and ensure timely intervention in addressing infrastructure challenges across the state.

Ezeobi said the platform would also provide a channel for feedback, allowing authorities to investigate reported defects and take appropriate action to improve road conditions.

He emphasised that roads and other public infrastructure were assets belonging to the people and should be protected through collective responsibility and proper maintenance.

The commissioner urged residents to move beyond criticism and actively collaborate with the government by identifying infrastructure problems and reporting them through the appropriate channels.

He noted that responsible reporting would help the government identify areas requiring urgent attention, prioritise maintenance activities and develop lasting solutions to road-related challenges.

Ezeobi expressed optimism that the platform, which is expected to become fully operational in the coming days, would strengthen cooperation between the government and residents in safeguarding public infrastructure.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, said the platform would integrate project tracking with infrastructure maintenance to strengthen accountability, improve monitoring and promote public ownership of government projects.

The initiative is expected to enhance the state’s road maintenance system by providing a centralised digital channel for reporting defects, tracking infrastructure challenges and supporting faster responses from the relevant authorities.

The planned launch forms part of efforts to leverage digital technology to improve infrastructure management and strengthen citizen engagement in governance across Anambra State.
