Atu Flags Off Completion of 1.3km Ndafufa-Ugwuaji–Obeagu Link Road in Enugu

The member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has flagged off the completion of the 1.3-kilometre Ndafufa-Ugwuaji–Obeagu Link Road in Enugu State.

The project is part of a phased road intervention designed to improve connectivity and open up communities within the federal constituency.

The first phase of the project covered the Ayo Open Space–Ndafufa Ugwuaji route, while the ongoing second phase will connect Ndafufa Ugwuaji to Obeagu. The third phase is expected to extend the road network from Obeagu through Obinagu to Obeagu Amechi.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony on Tuesday, Atu said improved road infrastructure was essential to economic growth, easier movement and enhanced quality of life for residents.

He explained that the third phase would extend access to adjoining communities, including Obinagu and Amechi, thereby expanding the road network and improving connectivity across the area.

Atu described the project as another milestone in his efforts to promote infrastructure development within Enugu North and South Federal Constituency.

In his remarks, the President-General of the Obeagu Ugwuaji Town Union, Chief Freedom Obi, expressed the community’s appreciation for the intervention, describing the project as significant to the development of the area.

Obi also commended the lawmaker for the quality of work executed under the first phase of the project.

The engineer in charge of the project, Engr. Ikechukwu Okorie of Ideas Construction Limited, said the earthworks and double-drainage system were expected to be completed before November 2026.

Okorie explained that the road was designed with a standard width of 7.5 metres and would feature a dual-drainage system to ensure effective water flow, protect the road and improve its durability.

Upon completion, the project is expected to strengthen connectivity between Ugwuaji, Obeagu and neighbouring communities, while facilitating the movement of people, goods and services and boosting economic activities in the area.
