Cross River Reduces Inter-City Transport Ticket Fees

The Cross River State Government has approved a reduction in ticket fees paid by inter-city transport operators as part of efforts to ease the impact of rising transportation costs on residents and reduce the tax burden on transport operators.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Bassey Otu, Linus Obogo, disclosed this in Calabar, saying the decision was aimed at creating a more conducive operating environment for transport operators across the state.

Under the new arrangement, outbound inter-city drivers will now pay N750 per ticket, down from N1,350, representing a reduction of N600.

Similarly, drivers operating from private parks will pay N450 per ticket instead of the previous N750.

Obogo said the reduction followed extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders and reflected the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and sustainable livelihood of transport operators.

He added that the measure was part of the Otu administration’s broader efforts to ease economic pressure on residents while supporting businesses within the transport sector.

The state government expressed optimism that the reduced fees would help lower operating costs for transport operators and contribute to more affordable transportation across Cross River State.
