Ekiti Approves N6.2bn For Ado-Ekiti Township Road Rehabilitation

Ekiti State Government has approved N6.29bn for the rehabilitation of key township roads in Ado-Ekiti as part of efforts to improve urban mobility and stimulate socio-economic activities in the state capital.

The approval of several decisions was contained in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, after the State Executive Council meeting.

Olatunbosun said the road rehabilitation project forms part of the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, noting that the initiative would improve traffic flow and ease the movement of people, goods, and services within Ado-Ekiti and surrounding areas.

The roads approved for rehabilitation include the New Iyin–NTA Road, Onigari–Spotless Hotel–Egbewa Road, Ijigbo–Baptist High School Road, Okesa–Oke Ori Omi–Irona Road, Oke Iyinmi–Fajuyi–Police Headquarters Road, Ecobank–Mobil Filling Station, Ajilosun Road, and Ile Abiye–Bisi Egbeyemi Crescent–Government House Gate Road.

The Council also approved additional works on the reconstruction and remodeling of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, bringing the total project cost to N2.67bn.

The additional works include a new administrative building, 1,500 extra spectator seats, a 250-capacity hostel, extension of the spectator stand canopy, a multipurpose court for volleyball and basketball, additional stadium lights, VIP toilets, and extension of the soccer pitch.

In a related development, the council approved N690.56m for the renovation of public secondary schools affected by the 2025 rainstorm across the state.

The projects include rehabilitation of classrooms, science laboratories, and administrative blocks in several schools, as well as the construction of a perimeter fence at All Souls’ Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti, to enhance security for students and staff.

Other decisions taken by the council include the approval for the renovation of the Ekiti State Liaison Office complex in Abuja at a cost of N57.9m and the renewal of a bank guarantee valued at N5.71bn for the 3MW Ekiti Independent Power Plant.

The council also approved transmission of a bill to the Ekiti State House of Assembly seeking the establishment of the Office of the Surveyor-General to strengthen land administration in Ekiti State.
