FAAN Deploys Two Ambulifts At Lagos Airport To Improve Passenger Accessibility

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has taken delivery of two ambulifts for deployment at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to improve accessibility and facilitate the movement of passengers with reduced mobility.

The authority disclosed this in a statement published on its official X handle on Thursday, October 8, 2026, noting that the equipment would provide essential assistance to passengers who require additional support when boarding or disembarking from aircraft.

According to FAAN, the ambulifts are expected to enhance passenger safety, comfort and dignity by ensuring that travellers with mobility challenges receive appropriate assistance throughout their airport experience.

The agency said the formal handover of the keys to the two ambulifts was carried out by its Director of Airport Operations, Captain Abdullahi Mahmood, to NACHO Aviation Services, which will oversee their deployment and operation at the airport.

“The addition of the ambulifts is aimed at providing the necessary assistance to passengers who may require additional support when boarding or disembarking aircraft, ensuring they receive dignified, safe and efficient care throughout their journey,” the authority stated.

FAAN explained that the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen passenger facilitation services and improve service delivery across Nigeria’s airports.

The authority added that the provision of the equipment underscores its commitment to ensuring that passengers receive appropriate support regardless of their physical limitations.

The deployment is expected to improve airport accessibility for passengers with disabilities and others who may require mobility assistance, while contributing to a more inclusive and efficient travel experience at the Lagos airport.
