Osun Pays Second Tranche Of Compensation For Iwo Road Dualisation Project

The Osun State Government has commenced the second phase of compensation payments to property owners affected by the ongoing Iwo Township Road dualisation project, reaffirming its commitment to completing all outstanding payments despite financial challenges.

The compensation was presented on Wednesday by a state delegation led by the Director of Acquisition and Compensation in the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, Mr. Tope Falope, during a meeting with beneficiaries held at the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi.

Representing the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Falope said the government remained determined to compensate all affected property owners, noting that the latest payments were made despite the state’s tight financial situation.

He assured beneficiaries that the remaining compensation would be settled as quickly as possible, adding that the administration was committed to the successful completion of the project.

Falope also commended the Oluwo of Iwo for his unwavering support for the road dualisation initiative, describing the monarch as a strong advocate of community development whose cooperation has contributed significantly to the project’s progress.

The State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, disclosed that the second tranche of compensation covered claimants affected by the Odo Ori Junction–Post Office Junction–Oluwo Palace Road section of the project.

According to him, 67 beneficiaries received compensation in the latest phase, including Ansar-Ud-Deen Central Mosque, the Methodist Church and Right Time Kitchen.

He recalled that the government had earlier paid compensation to 127 claimants during the first phase of the exercise conducted a few months ago.

Governor Ademola Adeleke had announced the Iwo Township Road dualisation project during the 2024 Iwo Day celebration, describing it as the first dual carriageway in the town and part of his administration’s broader infrastructure development agenda across Osun State.

The project is being executed in two phases, with the first covering the stretch from Odo Ori Junction to the Post Office area and branching in front of the Oluwo’s palace, while the second phase will extend from the Post Office to Adeeke Junction.
