Shettima Inaugurates 11.2km Roads, Launches 230 Mass Transit Vehicles In Katsina

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Katsina State for a one-day official visit, during which he is expected to inaugurate 11.2 kilometres of road projects and launch 230 mass transit vehicles.

Shettima, who was received at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport by Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, also inspected a quarter guard mounted by personnel of the Nigerian Air Force.

As part of his itinerary, the Vice-President is scheduled to inaugurate three major road projects executed by the Radda administration.

The projects comprise the dualised 4.80-kilometre Kofar Sauri–Central Mosque Roundabout Road, the dualised 2.40-kilometre Central Police Station Junction–Kofar Kaura Underpass Road, and the newly constructed 4.00-kilometre Filin Polo–Ring Road.

The road projects are expected to improve connectivity, ease traffic movement and strengthen transportation infrastructure within the state capital.

In the area of mass transportation, Shettima will also launch 30 Compressed Natural Gas hybrid buses and 200 Phase I electric tricycles at the Old Ministry of Works.

The initiative forms part of efforts by the state government to expand public transportation options while promoting cleaner and more sustainable mobility.

Beyond the infrastructure and transportation activities, the Vice-President is expected to receive new defectors into the All Progressives Congress at a political gathering scheduled to hold at the Peoples Square, Government House, Katsina.

Earlier, Shettima was at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, where he flagged off the Community Investment Fund under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up.

The World Bank-supported programme is designed to promote women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion across the state.

Governor Radda was joined by the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials in receiving the Vice-President.

The visit is expected to highlight the state government’s ongoing investments in road infrastructure, public transportation and socio-economic development.
