LASDRI Urges Motorists To Prioritise Safety During Eid-el-Kabir Celebration

OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos

The Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI) has urged motorists and other road users to adhere strictly to safety precautions during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to prevent road crashes and ensure a peaceful festive period.

In a Salah message to the Muslim faithful, the General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, called on residents to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, peaceful coexistence and care for the less privileged, noting that such values should extend beyond the celebration period.

Tiamiyu explained that Eid-el-Kabir symbolises sacrifice and obedience to God, adding that the festival offers Muslims the opportunity to reflect on the sanctity of human life and God’s mercy to mankind through the substitution of a ram for Prophet Ismail.

She advised motorists to obey traffic regulations and adopt safe driving habits while travelling during the festivities.

According to her, drivers should maintain recommended speed limits to ensure proper control of their vehicles, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on trips, and avoid night journeys because of poor visibility and the risks associated with travelling after dark.

The LASDRI boss also reassured residents of the commitment of the Lagos State Government to maintaining a safer road environment before, during and after celebrations that usually attract increased human and vehicular movement.

She further urged motorists to exercise patience and consideration towards other road users as part of the spirit of sacrifice and tolerance associated with the season.

Tiamiyu reaffirmed LASDRI’s commitment to sustaining collaboration with other safety and traffic management agencies to ensure effective enforcement of traffic laws and regulations across the state.

She wished Muslim faithful and all Lagos residents a peaceful, joyful and accident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
