The new Edo/Delta Customs Area Controller, Dooyum Dominic Ortsen, made the call on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Ports Manager of Delta Ports, Warri, Saadi Dahiru Mohammed.
Ortsen, who led his management team on the visit, said stronger institutional relations, effective communication and sustained cooperation were essential to improving activities within the port environment.
The visit provided an opportunity for both organisations to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore ways to strengthen collaboration in support of efficient port operations.
In a statement signed by the Assistant Superintendent of Customs in the command’s Public Relations Office, Peters Josu, and made available to journalists in Warri, the command said the engagement was aimed at fostering mutual understanding and reinforcing the existing relationship between the two institutions.
The statement noted that both parties acknowledged the importance of maintaining cordial working relationships despite their different responsibilities, stressing that effective cooperation remained crucial to achieving shared objectives.
It added that regular communication, mutual understanding and professionalism were emphasised as key factors in promoting operational efficiency and safety within the port.
The meeting also highlighted the need for continuous dialogue and stakeholder engagement to address operational challenges, strengthen inter-agency relations and ensure the smooth conduct of port activities.
According to the statement, the visit reflected the commitment of both organisations to building sustainable partnerships with relevant stakeholders to improve service delivery.
It expressed optimism that the engagement would create opportunities for sustained cooperation and strengthen institutional relations in the interest of effective port management.
